Call for proposals: Teaching responsible AI courses in partnerships with community colleges or MSIs

Appalachian State University is an institutional sponsor of the National Humanities Center in efforts to advance study in all areas of the humanities.

With App State's sponsorship, unique opportunities are available throughout the year, including the NHC Responsible Artificial Intelligence (RAI) project. Please see the opportunity below.

___

Over the past two years, the National Humanities Center (NHC) has hosted 23 university faculty in building courses that introduce methodologies developed in humanities disciplines to undergraduates and graduate students on the topic of responsible artificial intelligence. Based on the success of the first NHC Responsible AI (RAI) project, Google sent the NHC another gift to continue this project. In this second phase of the RAI project, we will fund four partnerships between NHC Institutional Sponsors and community colleges or Minority Serving Institutions (MSIs) to teach responsible AI courses on both campuses during the 2025–2026 school year. Beginning in 2024, these partnerships will ensure that nuanced AI education is more widely available across institution types and will enhance pedagogical relationships between the two institutions. In addition, all faculty who participate in this program will develop open-access educational materials which will be published by the NHC.

Please read the call for proposals here.
