Changes to External Funding Alerts and Emails

The Office of Research will be using a new process to connect you to external grant funding opportunities in the future.

Over the past few months, you may have seen emails introducing the Pivot-RP funding database. This database is a powerful tool that can deliver customized funding searches to your inbox on a weekly basis and/or to create an on-demand search query.

Because we have this new tool, Grants Resources & Services will no longer be aggregating and sending weekly funding opportunity bulletins to our over 100 “topic based” contact groups (you may or may not have signed up for these over the years). Instead, GRS will be offering workshops to assist you in signing up for a Pivot funding profile which, once set up, will send you personalized funding opportunities based on your keywords and areas of interest.

This new process will cut down on the email you receive in your inbox as well as the need to sift through opportunities that might not be a good fit because they are too general.

If you are signed up for one or more of the over 100 topic based contact groups, you will be receiving an email invitation to learn how to set up your own Pivot profile. If you aren’t already signed up to receive funding opportunity notices and would like to receive them in a specific category, please attend the upcoming training session on how to set up a user profile in Pivot and learn how to conduct an on-demand search query as a bonus - or contact grs@appstate.edu to set up a personalized training session so we can get you set up.

Will you still receive funding opportunity emails from GRS? Yes, occasionally GRS will send out external funding opportunities that come directly to us and seem relevant to you and/or campus via individual emails. This will be on an irregular basis.

To make sure you don’t miss any research related information and/or announcements, please sign up for the Research Google group here.
