On June 2, Appalachian State received a new Negotiated Indirect Cost Rate Agreement (NICRA) from the US Department of Health and Human Services. The new agreement covers the period from 7/1/2020 to 6/30/2024. The rate remains a calculation of modified total direct costs, and definitions of on- and off-campus rate use also remain unchanged. The new rates are 38% for on-campus projects and 20% for off-campus projects.
Application notes:
Multi-year projects currently in-progress or under consideration will proceed with the requested rate as presented in the submission documents
Proposal submission documents currently routing for signatures in AGrants will proceed with the current rates
New projects and “Unsubmitted” AGrants projects with start dates that begin on or after 7/1/2020 should use the new rates.
