The URC is committed to a broad and inclusive definition of research, including both basic and applied research as well as scholarly creative endeavors. Grant requests up to $5000 may be made by tenured and tenure-track faculty, full-time instructors, or EHRA administrative professionals.
Complete proposals must be submitted online no later than 12 NOON on Tuesday, October 17, 2023. Guidelines and eligibility information are embedded in the online application.

Summer Stipend for Writing a Grant
SWAG funding incentivizes faculty preparing external research grant applications. The Office of Research is accepting applications for the Summer Stipend for Writing A Grant (SWAG) program for the Summer I Session for Summer 2024. This program provides selected faculty with a $3500 stipend for the first Summer Session to spend time writing an external grant proposal.
The SWAG program is funded in part by the NSF ADVANCE APPALACHIAN program, which is focused on improving gender equity in STEM fields at Appalachian, and is part of a broad NSF effort to increase the equity in the STEM workforce.
Faculty members who are eligible to serve as principal investigators (PI) on externally funded grants are encouraged to apply for funding. Applicants should not have other sources of internal or external summer funding, and faculty who are teaching more than one course during Summer I are not eligible to apply.
