The Office of Research is pleased to welcome Teresa Spangler as the Technology Transfer and Innovation Specialist. In this role, she will be responsible for soliciting invention disclosures and evaluating intellectual property for patent and market potential, managing university intellectual property including assistance with formation of start-ups and identification of potential licensees, partners, and investors, and providing guidance to faculty and staff in developing their ideas and inventions. Teresa brings over 25 years of experience in start-ups, positioning and managing intellectual property, and creating pipelines. Teresa’s experience includes diverse technologies including artificial intelligence, IoT, advanced manufacturing and various sectors such as life sciences, health sciences, and higher education. In addition to her role in the Office of Research, Teresa currently teaches Innovation Management as an adjunct instructor in the Department of Management. Teresa is also an Appalachian Alum.
