The Office of Rural Promise will host multiple education conferences in North Carolina this summer. The Academic Innovation Conference (AIC) will take place June 9-10 on the campus of Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College. Hosted by Appalachian GEAR UP, the theme of AIC is "The Power of Our Stories" and will center the voices, experiences and communities that shape education across western North Carolina.
These stories show what is possible when we design learning experiences that center students, empower educators and strengthen the communities we serve. Whether you are innovating in classrooms, leading systems, building partnerships or reimagining what is next, your work belongs in this conversation. Learn more here.

The ETL Empower EDU Conference will take place June 16-17 in Greensboro, at the Proximity Hotel. This gathering of K-12 educators, researchers and policy leaders is the first event of its kind in North Carolina dedicated to scaling self-directed learning and micro-credentials to transform classrooms and districts. This event will provide an immersive experience of the Empowering Teacher Learning (ETL) framework, providing practical tools for anyone in education. Content areas for each session will be organized as self-directed learning, learner agency, emerging technology or micro-credentials. Registration will open soon.
