NC ACRE collaborative event May 23: Social Justice and Environmental Justice

NC ACRE is excited to continue the quarterly NC Advancing Collaborative Research Excellence (NC ACRE) researcher meet-ups. Please Save-the-date for the next program on Tuesday, May 23 from 12-2 p.m. focusing on the topic(s) of Social Justice & Environmental Justice.

Add this event to your calendar with this link.

Continuing the updated, more intentional presentation and cross-networking format, we welcome faculty and researchers in your networks broadly interested or active in social justice and/or environmental justice to join us for this meet-up.  This meet-up will be a mix of quick format researcher introductions moving into break-out rooms for researchers to explore de-novo collaborations and organize for future grant applications.

The program:

  • Please consider sending us one-slide using the attached template so that we may add them to the presenter roster. They will have five-minutes to present this slide at the meet-up. Please return slides back to my email (fletcherkl@appstate.edu) no later than Friday, May 5th to be considered for a speaking slot in the first portion of the meet-up.
  • As before, the NC ACRE steering committee will prepare and circulate forecasted NSF Dear Colleague Letters (DCL) and/or NIH-concept clearances (CC) targeting basic and translational funding opportunities and broadly pertaining to social justice and/or environmental justice; we will also circulate slide titles ahead of the meeting.
  • On May 23:
    • A steering committee member will re-present the concept clearance, share the names of cognizant federal officials, identify incumbents (if any), and include other details as available
    • Interested attendees will present their slides and related research
    • Attendees will self-organize into the cross-cutting sub-theme rooms
    • Post meeting, attendees should expect to continue any self-organizing efforts.

We've been so honored by everyone's participation in these events over the past, almost 2-years now, and look forward to continuing these great conversations about research in these strategically important funding areas.
