Research for Recovery and Resilience—WNC R3 White Paper

Hurricane Helene had a profound impact on Western North Carolina's natural systems, institutions and public health, exposing weaknesses but also opportunities to build the region's resilience against future disasters. In the months that followed, App State's Office of Research and Innovation convened the Western North Carolina Research for Recovery and Resilience (WNC R3) Workshop where nearly 100 participants—including academic, business, government and community leaders—met to identify ways that research could help strengthen, energize and organize efforts and community-engaged partnerships to rebuild stronger in the wake of the hurricane.

Read more about these efforts and goals in the white paper produced by App State as a result of the workshop and subsequent efforts.
